In Paris, Girard-Perregaux and Nile Rodgers presented projects to support the “We Are Family Foundation” and its young talents involved in philanthropic work.
This meeting comes in the wake of the New York “Changing Omega Replica Watches Event” that raised more than $200,000 to support the foundation’s activities. It was hosted at Le Carmen, a 1875 magnificent private mansion house, where Georges Bizet is said to have composed his famous opera, Carmen.
Throughout the evening, two young philanthropists supported by the “We Are Family Foundation” were able to present their latest projects: Zuhal Sultan Mohammed, founder of the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq, and David Saddington, climate change activist.
Nile Rodgers, accompanied by his guitar, then shared his commitment to supporting these young vocations by telling his story, from his first hits with Chic, his songwriting for Diana Ross and his recent work with Daft Punk.
All these great names in watchmaking, fashion, music and philanthropy raised a toast to the commitment of the “We Are Family Foundation”. The guest list also included Marc Cerrone, Dimitri from Paris or actors Patrick Timsit and Sophie Meister.
Michele Sofisti, CEO of the Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux), said: “Nile’s commitment is exceptional. It is an honor to work with him to raise awareness among future generations of our planet’s major issues.”
Nancy Hunt, the President of the “We Are Family Foundation”, added: “Our ambition is to inspire and encourage young people to rise to the challenges of tomorrow, prepare new ground and hand over the baton to the new generation to protect our planet.”
Nile Rodgers declared: “Together we can achieve amazing things. I hope this initiative will encourage other young people to join our fight to change our world.”
